Generative AI Policies

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) Policy

Arba: Jurnal Studi Keislaman is committed to maintaining academic integrity, originality, publication ethics, and responsible use of artificial intelligence in scholarly publishing.

Permitted Use of AI

Arba permits the limited and proportionate use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or similar platforms solely for technical and linguistic assistance. Acceptable uses include language editing, grammar checking, writing refinement, stylistic improvement, and introductory summarization, provided that such use does not replace the substantive intellectual contribution of the author.

Authors who utilize AI assistance are required to transparently disclose the scope and form of AI use within the Acknowledgments or Author Notes section. Failure to disclose the use of AI assistance constitutes a violation of publication ethics and may affect the editorial decision regarding the manuscript.

Important Note:

AI tools cannot be listed as authors, contributors, or entities holding intellectual responsibility for any submitted manuscript.

Prohibited Practices and Editorial Ethics

The use of AI to generate primary scientific content, formulate legal or scientific analysis, construct academic arguments, generate references or citations, falsify data, manipulate findings, or produce unverifiable scientific text is strictly prohibited. Any manuscript found to violate these principles may be rejected or retracted.

During the review and editorial process, reviewers and editors are prohibited from uploading manuscripts or any part of the manuscript into public AI platforms to maintain confidentiality and preserve the integrity of the peer-review process. Limited AI use for language clarity or readability checking is permitted only when manuscript content is not entered into public systems.

Compliance and Sanctions:

Arba may employ AI detection tools as part of manuscript evaluation. Violations of this policy may result in manuscript rejection, article withdrawal, or temporary and permanent submission bans.

Author Responsibility

All responsibility regarding the originality of manuscripts, authenticity of data and references, validity of scientific analysis, ethical compliance, and overall academic integrity remains entirely with the authors. The use of AI assistance does not transfer intellectual accountability from the author to any technological system or platform.
