Complaints and Appeals

Arba: Jurnal Studi Keislaman is committed to maintaining transparency, fairness, integrity, and accountability in all aspects of scientific publication and editorial management.

Scope and Types of Complaints

Complaints that may be filed include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Alleged violations of research or publication ethics in published or under-review articles.
  • Allegations of bias, unfair treatment, or abuse of authority by the editorial board or journal staff.
  • Disputes or objections to the peer review process and results.
  • Allegations of copyright infringement, plagiarism, or misuse of scholarly work.
  • Concerns regarding conflicts of interest or competing interests that have not been adequately disclosed.

Complaint Submission Procedure

Complaints can be submitted by authors, reviewers, readers, or other interested parties through the official Arba: Jurnal Studi Keislaman email address. Each complaint must be accompanied by:

  • The complainant's identity and contact information,
  • A clear and detailed description of the complaint,
  • Relevant supporting evidence or documents.
  • Complaints submitted without a clear basis or sufficient supporting evidence may be rejected at the initial stage.

Confidentiality and Identity Protection

Arba: Jurnal Studi Keislaman guarantees the confidentiality of the entire complaint process. The identities of the complainant and the parties involved will be strictly protected. Personal information will only be accessed by individuals directly involved in handling and investigating the complaint, in accordance with the principles of necessity and proportionality.

Upon receipt of a complaint, the editorial team will conduct an initial assessment to determine the relevance, validity, and seriousness of the complaint. If the complaint falls outside the journal's jurisdiction or scope of policy, the complainant will be notified and, if possible, directed to the appropriate party.

Investigation Process

Complaints deemed legitimate will be investigated through an objective and thorough process. This process may include:

  • Collecting additional information,
  • Clarification from relevant parties,
  • Reviewing relevant documents and data,
  • Consulting with experts or independent institutions, if necessary.

The entire process is conducted with the highest standards of fairness, prudence, and independence.

Independence of the Editorial Board and Publisher

If a complaint involves a member of the editorial board or publisher, Arba: Jurnal Studi Keislaman will ensure that these parties are not involved in the investigation or decision-making process to maintain objectivity and prevent conflicts of interest.

Resolution and Dissemination of Results

The Journal strives to resolve each complaint in a timely and proportionate manner. Upon completion of the investigation, the complainant will be notified of the results of the investigation and the action taken, in accordance with the severity of the violation identified and applicable journal policies.

Appeals Mechanism

Complainants who do not accept the initial decision have the right to file an appeal. The appeal must be submitted in writing, stating clear reasons and any relevant additional evidence or information to support the request.

Appeals Handling

Appeals will be handled by an independent appeals committee consisting of individuals not involved in the previous investigation. This committee will conduct a thorough, objective, and impartial review of all aspects of the case.

Final Decision

The decision made by the appeals committee is final. Arba: Jurnal Studi Keislaman will convey the results of the decision to the complainant, accompanied by a clear and rational explanation regarding the basis for the decision.

Transparency and Public Accountability

As a commitment to transparency, Arba: Jurnal Studi Keislaman will record all complaints received and their resolution. This information may be published anonymously on the journal's website while maintaining privacy, confidentiality, and publication ethics.

Policy Review and Updates

This Complaints and Appeals Policy will be reviewed and updated periodically to ensure its alignment with best practices and international ethical standards for scientific publication. Any policy changes will be publicly announced on the official Arba: Jurnal Studi Keislaman website.
