Conflict of Interest Policy

Arba: Jurnal Studi Keislaman is committed to upholding the highest standards of transparency, integrity, and ethical behavior throughout the scientific publishing process. This policy defines conflicts of interest and establishes mechanisms for handling them for authors, reviewers, editors, journals, and publishers, whether identified before or after publication.

In its implementation, this journal adheres to the Core Practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) .

Definition of Conflict of Interest

A conflict of interest occurs when an individual or entity has a financial, personal, professional, or academic interest that influences, or could reasonably be perceived to influence, the objectivity, independence, integrity, and decision-making involved in research, review, editing, or publishing.

Identification of Conflicts of Interest

All parties involved in the publication process—including authors, reviewers, editors, and other stakeholders—are required to honestly and fully disclose any potential conflicts of interest relevant to the manuscript submitted, reviewed, edited, or published.

These conflicts of interest may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Financial interests, such as funding sources, share ownership, employment relationships, consultancies, or other financial ties related to the research.
  2. Personal relationships, including close relationships or family ties with parties involved in the research or publication process.
  3. Academic relationships, such as collaborations, institutional affiliations, or professional relationships, could potentially compromise objectivity or create a perception of bias.
  4. Competing affiliations, namely involvement with organizations or institutions that have conflicting interests in the research or published findings.
  5. Intellectual property rights, including patents, copyrights, or other forms of intellectual property rights, could be affected by the research or publication results.

Handling Conflicts of Interest

Arba: Jurnal Studi Keislaman handles any conflicts of interest with the principles of prudence, accountability, and transparency.

For Authors

Authors are required to disclose all potential conflicts of interest at the time of manuscript submission. If a conflict of interest is identified after the article is published, the author is obliged to immediately notify the editorial board.

Any revealed conflicts will be handled openly and in accordance with publication ethics.

For Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to decline review invitations if they have a conflict of interest that could affect their independence and objectivity.

If a conflict of interest becomes known after the review process, the reviewer must immediately report it to the editorial board for further handling.

For Editors and Journal Staff

Editors and journal staff involved in the editorial process must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts that give rise to a conflict of interest. In doubtful situations, the editorial board has full authority to determine the most appropriate course of action to maintain the integrity of the publishing process.

For Publishers

Publishers must have clear internal policies to identify and manage potential conflicts of interest within their organization. Publishers ensure that all editorial decisions and content policies are free from the influence of financial or other conflicting interests.

Transparency and Disclosure

Arba: Jurnal Studi Keislaman publicly states this conflict of interest policy and ensures that all stakeholders understand the applicable disclosure obligations. Any conflicts of interest disclosed by authors, reviewers, editors, or other relevant parties will be published along with the relevant article, review, or editorial.

As part of its efforts to maintain editorial independence and integrity, this journal will limit or prevent the involvement of editors, reviewers, and relevant stakeholders in the publication process if they are listed as authors or co-authors on manuscripts submitted to Arba: Jurnal Studi Keislaman.

Policy Review

This conflict of interest policy will be reviewed and updated periodically to ensure its alignment with best practices and evolving ethical standards for scientific publication. Any changes or updates to the policy will be disseminated to stakeholders and officially announced on the journal website.
