Main Theme:
“The Thoughts of Feminist Figures in Islamic Studies”

Arba: Jurnal Studi Keislaman invites academics, researchers, students, and practitioners to submit scientific articles for the January 2026 edition. In this edition, the focus of discussion is directed at the ideas and contributions of feminist figures—both from Muslim and non-Muslim circles—who are involved in the study of Islamic Studies.

This study is expected to open up space for critical reflection on feminist thought in relation to religious traditions, texts, and practices, while also providing a new perspective for the development of Islamic discourse that is responsive to issues of gender equality, justice, and humanity..

Sub-themes that can be raised include:

  • Contemporary Muslim feminist thought in Islamic studies.

  • Contributions of classical and modern feminist figures to the methodology of tafsir, hadith, and fiqh.

  • Islamic feminism and the discourse of gender justice in a socio-political context.

  • Feminist thought on women's rights, the family, and Islamic law.

  • Feminist critique of patriarchal traditions in religious discourse.

  • The relevance of feminist thought in facing the challenges of modernity and globalization.

Writing Requirements:

  • Articles should be written in Indonesian or English.

  • Articles should be 4,000–7,000 words long.

  • Use APA 6th citation style.

  • Articles should be submitted through the Open Journal System (OJS) of Arba: Jurnal Studi Keislaman.

Timeline:

  • Deadline for manuscript submission: October 30, 2025

  • Review process: November 1 – December 31, 2025

  • Published: January 2026
