Traditional Medicine from an Interfaith Perspective

Kamali: Journal of Religious Studies invites academics, researchers, lecturers, practitioners, and observers of religious studies to submit their best scientific articles for the upcoming edition with the theme “Traditional Medicine in an Interfaith Perspective.”

Theme Background

Traditional medicine is a practice deeply rooted in various religious and cultural traditions worldwide. In Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, and local beliefs, traditional medicine is understood not only as a means of physical healing but also as a spiritual expression, a religious ritual, and a form of local wisdom passed down across generations.

Amidst modern medical developments and the challenges of globalization, traditional interfaith medicine faces various dynamics: from theological legitimacy and religious ethics to its relationship with modern science, to public health and legal issues. Therefore, critical, comparative, and interdisciplinary academic studies are essential to enrich the discourse on religious studies and the humanities.

Manuscript Requirements:

  • Articles must be original and unpublished research or conceptual studies.

  • Written in Indonesian or English.

  • Article length: ± 4,000–8,000 words (including bibliography).

  • Use APA 6th citation style (in accordance with journal guidelines).

  • Manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer-review process.
